Ward Christmas Party- 2010

We always enjoy participating in our ward Talent Show, when they have one.  Well, I didn't find out about this one until the week before, which didn't leave much time for preparing.  I wanted the girls to do something but wasn't sure what we could throw together at the last minute.  Then I remembered a dance routine we had been working on the previous summer for my Family Reunion (but we weren't able to go and never finished it.)  The girls were really excited to preform it and it was a Christmas/Winter type song too!  :)  Perfect!  We finished the routine to "The Snowman Medley" by Inside Out.  They take many different styles of popular music and change them into a snowman theme.  For example, "Thriller" was changed to, "He was a snowman tall, tall, tall, but in the sun he melted now he's smaller, smaller, smaller!"  The girls even helped with the choreography.  The song started with a little girl singing the normal song, "Once there was a snowman, snowman, snowman, once there was a snowman tall, tall, tall."  So the girls started out in their regular clothes and then after this part ran and put on their black coats, black beanie hats, and sunglasses.  They each had a starring role part too.  Riana did the yelling on "Snowman, snowman, daylight come and he start to melt..."  Sariah let the sun out on "Who let the sun out?  Who, who, who..."  Tierra was the snowman melting on "Goodbye Snowman my old friend, the sun has melted you again."  Karina was the driver of the snowmobile on the Batman theme song, "Robin, to the snowmobile."  Aurora was supposed to be the last one standing at the end, while the little girl sang the rest of the song, "In the sun he melted, melted, melted, in the sun he melted small, small, small."  However, she wouldn't ever do it, when we practiced.  Finally, the last time we practiced I decided to have Karina do it.  When I had her do it, Aurora got really mad and said, "My part!"  Then during the actual performance, for the first time ever, she did exactly what she was suppose to do and even layed down at the end!!  (Actually, I was surprised that she even stood up there with her sisters!)  It was so perfect and I was totally amazed that she did it!!  The girls did a really great job!  It was fun to watch them!!  :)

After some yummy dessert of pie, watching the talent show, and singing some Christmas carols, the girls had the chance to sit on Santa's lap.  (I am glad that our ward always has a Santa because I refuse to go stand in line for hours to pay a whole bunch of money, just for a picture with Santa.)  Riana, Sariah, and Tierra went with no hesitation.  Riana is the only one who asked for something conventional for Christmas.  She told Santa she wanted an IPOD touch.  The other girls got a little more creative.  Sariah asked Santa for snow!  Tierra asked Santa for a trip to the North Pole!  And Karina, who absolutely refused to sit on his lap, asked Santa for a tree.  (So sad!!  It was the 11th already and due to sick children, tons and tons of rain, and Grant's having to work on a Saturday, which is rare, we hadn't gotten a tree yet.)  Aurora didn't want to sit on Santa's lap either but was pretty pleased with the result, which was a little bag of treats.  All in all, they were glad that they went to see Santa.  It was a fun night!  :)
