The Story of our Christmas Tree

We normally try to get our Christmas tree right after Thanksgiving, however, our girls were sick and so we weren't able to go.  The first weekend in December, the weather was perfect!!  Unforunately, Grant had to work on that Saturday (about the only Saturday he had to work all year-- he went to an OBGYN conference.)  We couldn't go during the week because he usually gets home too late, when it is almost dark or already dark.  The following Saturday, it was pouring down rain, all day!!  The girls were getting impatient and decided to make their own tree.  Here it is... so cute!

The following Saturday, a couple of our girls came down with strep, yet again!  Ahh!!  We were afraid we were never going to get a tree.  (And our fake tree had broken a few years back, so we didn't have that option either.)  Grant and I decided to just send Grant and a few girls to grab a tree.  However, the girls started crying and said that it just wouldn't be the same if we didn't go get it as a family.  So we decided to go, as a whole family (but since they hadn't had antibiotics for 24 hours yet, we gave strict instructions to the sick ones that they weren't to talk to anyone or touch anything and they did great at it.)  It was much funner to go as a whole family.  The girls were very happy!  The tree farm was extremely muddy!!  But our studly man/Daddy chopped the tree down for us!!  :)  I think we'll keep him around.  ;)  He also helped the girls through the mud (and even tucked his pants into his socks, at one point- cute!)  We were able to find a nice tree for a fairly cheap price, $25, (we didn't want to pay too much, since it was so close to Christmas already.)  Luckily, we didn't have to carry the tree because the workers at the tree farm came and got it for us, but Grant tied it onto the top of the van.  Most importantly, we built some good memories as a family.

The girls were so excited to finally have a real tree to decorate!  And they did a great job!!  It turned out beautifully and really brought the spirit of Christmas into our home!!  :)
