Summer Soccer 2012

After one season, Tierra and Karina's spring season team broke apart because the coach was too busy.  (It is totally understandable since he is a firefighter and has a pretty unpredictable schedule.)  For the summer, they were both put on to Cindy's team.  Unforunately, Karina broke her arm the week the season started and she could not play... so she missed the season.  It ended up just being Tierra on the team.  She had a lot of fun.  And did really well... even scoring several goals.

Side note-- One of the other Moms on the team, Stephanie (Kameryn's Mom) took a lot of these pictures.  I have a really hard time catching amazing moment's of my kids playing soccer because I get too excited when something is about to happen and then forget to take a picture.  So I really appreciate these awesome pictures that she took and shared.

 

 

Riana and Sariah joined a new select team.  In the summer, they both just had practices and tournaments.  The first tournament was the "Kick in the Grass," which I played in when I was growing up.  How fun!  (I totally forgot to take pictures.  This one of Sariah and Autumn being the captains, was taken by my friend, Jen.)  Both teams did pretty good for brand new teams.  Riana and Grant's team even took 2nd place in the tournament.  Pretty exciting!!  All participants received a pin and 1st and 2nd place teams received medals.  (However, since we choose not to play Sundays, to observe the Sabbath day, we weren't there when the team received their medals.  This is my friend, Krista's picture of her daughter Emma, with Alexis and Maelani.)

Sariah's team actually had the opportunity to play in a surprise tournament.  The tournament needed another team and gave them the chance to play at a reduced cost.  I didn't get to go to this tournament because I was gone river rafting.

Riana's 2nd and Sariah's 3rd tournaments were both at StarFire, where the Seattle Sounders play.  We pretty lived there for two Saturdays in a row.  We brought a picnic and the girls played at the StarFire park between games.  These tournaments were a lot tougher than the "Kick in the Grass" but it was a good learning experience for the girls.  (Grant even played Sariah in a couple minutes of his game.  She did pretty good too!!)

I just realized that I still don't have a team picture of Sariah's team.  Stink!  I will have to get one.  Riana's team-- Coach Grant and Coach Aaron, Girls- Alexis, Peyton, Maelani, Emma, Olivia, Bella, Aubrey, Madi, Riana, Katherine, Kiana, Autumn, McKenna, Jasmine, and Melli

Grant let Riana and Sariah each pick out a T-shirt from one tournament.  Here are the ones they chose.

Tierra, Karina, Aurora, and Calyssa found lots of ways to entertain themselves during and between games.  We ate our picnic and played on the playground.  Aurora and Calyssa played with their buddy, Brynnie.  Tierra and Karina found a new friend, Olivia's little sister, Avery (who they played with every game of the next season, as well.)  Calyssa got distracted by her favorite thing... a doggy!!  Aurora and Calyssa played their favorite game... ring around the flag.  And Aurora even tried a little skateboarding.  They had lots of fun!  (A couple of these photos came from my friend, Nicole, like the adorable green sweater ones.)

Grant wrote "Go TCUnited" all over the back of our van and Sariah drew this awesome soccer ball.
