My Birthday- September 2012

Grant asked me to make a list of what I wanted for my birthday so that he could fulfill my wishes.

"What I Want For My Birthday--
1) A yummy breakfast
2) A clean house (and me not having to do chores for the day)
3) A dinner I don't have to cook
4) A chocolate dessert and a birthday song sung to me
5) A family who listens and obeys the 1st time and doesn't fight
6) Kids ready and in bed by 9:00 pm"

"A yummy breakfast"-- My birthday started out lovely with breakfast-in-bed. It came with some very sweet cards, from my girls, my husband, and later one from my sister.

An Added Bonus-- My friends, Jen and Vanessa, really spoiled me for lunch-- curry butternut squash soup, juicy green grapes, homemade Red Lobster biscuits, and chocolate chip cookie cheesecake bars for dessert. I love food and I was one happy girl!! :) And I am very blessed to have such amazing friends!! I love them both so much!!

I loved all of my gifts-- all my wonderful meals and cards, homemade bread, a super soft blanket, candy bars and a card, these adorable ice cream cone lolipops (the girls loved them!!), more homemade bread (which is like my favorite food!!), homemade jam, and of course, money.

"A dinner I don't have to cook" and "A chocolate dessert and a birthday song sung to me"-- Grant made me a very yummy dinner-- coconut shrimp, french fries, and salad. Then for dessert... a chocolate chip cheesecake. It was nice!

Grant helped the kids clean the house, they all tried to get along, and he helped them get to bed-- the rest of my requests fulfilled! :)

The celebrations went on for the next week. On Saturday, to celebrate our birthdays, Jen and Jason, and Grant and I went on a double date. Since we were running late, (because of another busy Saturday of soccer games and such) we grabbed some PF Changs on our way to the temple. I was able to try the famous lettuce wraps, which didn't disappoint... plus another chicken dish, that was also yummy. Then a couple days later on Jen's birthday, we went out to lunch at the Rock pizza with our little 3/4 year olds- our mini selfs... LOL! (I didn't know that they had a lunch buffet and you can even request whatever pizza you want for them to make, while you are there.) It was a nice, relaxing lunch- yummy food and wonderful company.

PS- Apparently I like to wear lots of different shirts on my birthday... LOL!! Some of the gifts came on different days, other than my birthday. And my special birthday dinner may have come a day late due to the craziness of the evening or something.

I had another very wonderful birthday-- thanks to my very wonderful friends and family!!! Love you all!! Thank you so much!! :)

3 Nephi 17:21-24

Our homeschool program!!

My style of homeschooling is "public school at home." We began homeschooling on our own, the 1st year. Then we were enrolled in the Washington Virtual Academy (WAVA) for 3 years. Now we are enrolled in ORLA. Our girls are taking several classes at an Elementary School that is no longer used for a typical Elementary School. Instead 450 homeschooling students (K-12) take classes there with certified teachers (you choose which ones and how many) but you do have to be at the school with them until they are 12 (in another room with toys for the younger kids) or sign them out to a friend. Then you fill in the rest at home. For example, my girls take Music, Art, P.E., and Science at the school 2 days a week and then I teach them Math, Language, and History at home, on the other 3 days. The school also pays for an additional $300 a year of curriculum (like the Math, Lang, Hist.) We do have to keep up with a certain number of hours per week. We also have a "home room teacher" that helps us with everything, like deciding what extra things to do at home and making sure we don't miss anything. We are really enjoying this program-- it truly is the best of both worlds! If you have any questions, email me. :)
