Riana's Quest to Get McKenna

When the American Girl "Doll of the Year" was announced last September, Riana announced that she just had to have it!!  Last year, she had wrote a story for a contest for American girl about a girl named McKenna and this doll's name was McKenna.  They also announced that McKenna was from Seattle and had red hair and blue eyes and did Gymnastics.  Riana knew that she would have to save her money and buy the doll.  So she started saving.  A little later, she noticed a really cute outfit that was only available in the "Starter Collection," which was quite a bit more than just the doll.  Riana saved all her birthday money from family and friends and also did jobs around the house and some babysitting for other people (and occasionally we pay her.)  Finally, she did it!!  The starter collection is somewhere around $200!!!  As soon as she had enough, she begged... and begged... and begged for me to take her up to the American Doll Store.  So finally one day, it worked out at the last minute and so we just went.
Riana, Sariah, Aimee, Tierra, and Karina's dolls all ready to welcome McKenna Brooks!

I just love seeing all the cute little things in the American Girl store.  Here is the McKenna collection and a display with McKenna and her bed.  I especially loved the tiny books in the bed display.
They had some fun crafts and even a scavenger hunt, at the store, for the girls to do.  They had a lot of fun!

Sariah found a picture of her doll, at the store.  All the girls wanted to pose with McKenna and even posed their dolls with her.
Riana was so happy to finally have McKenna- each of her dolls wearing one of McKenna's outfits.
Each of the girls won an American Girl poster for finishing the Scavenger Hunt.
Riana received half of the starter collection at the store.  My favorite part were McKenna's shoes and her water bottle- so cute!  The other half was out of stock in every store and online, however they shipped it to us for free, which made it fun because she got a package in the mail!!  :)

Riana is always making the cutest things.  I swear that girl is so creative!!  She made this camera for her American Dolls, patterned after my Nikon.  It has a pop-up flash, a turn dial on top that actually turns, and a viewfinder with a picture in it.  WOW!!  You amaze me, Riana!!!

Wow, I'm impressed! I'm not sure I could manage saving up $200 to buy something special. That is so cool that she was able to do that.
