Spring Soccer 2011

This spring season of soccer was great!  We had Tierra and Karina on the same team and Riana and Sariah on the same team, so we only had to worry about 2 schedules.  And I don't think we had any games that overlapped.  It was quite nice for a change!  (Especially since I ended up missing a bunch, due to my illnesses and surgery- so thankful to my friends, Vanessa and Rachel, who took Tia and Nina to practice a lot!)
Tia and Nina were placed on a team with Nina's coach from last year, Jay, which was really nice.  The girls were already familiar with him and he is just great with the kids- very uplifting and easy going!  They also enjoy having his daughter on their team.  Also on their team, was their cousin, Laurel, their good friends, Hailey and Paige, from Primary, (which made it fun for the parents and kids on the sidelines, because they had someone to hang out with,) and two boys, which I believe they played with last year, as well.  (I think they had another 1-2 kids on the team but I don't have any pictures of them and can't remember.)

Karina did great out there and kept up with everyone, even though she was playing a year up.  (Some fo the kids were even 2 years older than her, as they have 6-7 year olds play together, and she is 5.)  She is quite aggressive, has no fear of stealing the ball away, and I think she even made a couple of goals (just like last year.  She was a natural from the start.)  She is a good little soccer player!
Tierra improved even more drastically this year, than last!  Her first year or two in soccer, she was so sweet and timid- basically just running around with a smile on her face, hardly ever touching the ball.  Last year, she started to get aggressive and did great.  This year, she scored her very first goal in the first game and that was it!  It was like a light bulb went off!  In the next game, she scored two goals!  And then the next, she scored three!  She scored a ton of goals this season, even though she had never scored before this season!  It was so fun to watch her, having so much fun, and finding success!  You could tell her confidence was rising and she was proud of herself.  It was really neat!

It was a really great season for the girls and they had a lot of fun!  They especially enjoyed playing with their friends!  Jay was so sweet to purchase medals again for the kids!  They loved them, of course!

Riana and Sariah had another great season!  They really have a great group of girls on their team, who all get along like sisters.  The girls also have very awesome, supportive, and understanding parents, which makes it fun to be a part of this team.  (Some other teams we play have very negative parents and/or coach and it is kind of sad to watch.)  I feel very thankful that our girls have such a great team, to be a part of.  And I definitely appreciate my husband for the sacrifices he makes to coach their team.  He really is a great coach, who cares for each individual girl and has a great desire to help each of them improve.  I'm always impressed by the way he coaches.
