Aurora Turns 3~ May 2011

Aurora/Rori turned 3 in May!
Fun Facts about her:
*She is very artistic and drew pictures above her level (people with 8-10 body parts- eyes, nose, arms, legs, etc.) from a very young age.  She loves to draw.
*She is creative- the 2nd and 3rd picture above are of her "bike."  She would pretend to ride her bike, whenever she sat there.
*She is a musical girl- loves to play the piano, and runs around singing her own little songs (both made up and those from Nursery and such.)  However, she does not perform on command.  In fact, if she catches you watching her, it's over.  Hilarious!
*She loves to dance and often dances around the house.  She especially loves doing ballet and is quite graceful!!
*She is a little social butterfly and loves her little friends, and big friends- she makes friends with lots of teenagers and adults and she especially loves Grant and Vanessa and their children and often thinks she belongs in their family- they are all in love with her too!  It is a very sweet relationship! (pictured above with her buddy/cousin Kate.)
*She is a spunky little spitfire, who knows what she wants, and will definitely let you know, as well- very strong willed/stubborn... definitely one of those strong spirits of the last days!! (The old adage of two choices will not work for this toddler- "Do you want a green one or a yellow one?"  "I want a purple one!!"  She always chooses something you didn't offer.  What a smartie!!  Thinking outside the box!)
*She is so incredibly charming and will charm her way into your heart!  (Just ask anyone who knows her!!)  We all love our little Rori!!
*She is quite small/petite for her age.  I just barely brought out the 3T clothes and they are still a bit big.  She also has tiny feet- size 7/8.
*She is very polite.  She is always saying "please" and "thank you" without being prompted and often says "Thank you so much, Mommy!" with a hug and a kiss, when I change her diaper.  Also, she always says "sorry" when someone else is apologizing to her, even when it wasn't her fault.  And she usually says "No, thanks" when she doesn't want something.
*She thinks she is a big girl, just like her older sisters and has been demanding to do everything herself from a very young age.  Because of this independence, she is well advanced in a lot of things (except potty training- poor girl!  Due to our crazy life over the last several months, she hasn't been able to fully complete this process.  But she does often ask to change her own diaper, to which I reply, then get potty trained.  Now that things are finally settling down, I'm sure it will happen quickly for her.)
*Loves Mickey Mouse "Club-Club," when she gets the chance to watch it, and sings along- "Meeska, Mooska, Mickey Mouse... say it with me!"
*Is scared to death of-- driving on bumpy/hilly roads, the strobe light at Skateland, and the song "Carol of the Bells," as sung by Voice Male (an Acapella Men's group)
*Is very aware of bugs and excitedly comments on them whenever she sees them
*Absolutely adores her sisters (as do they adore her) and brags to people- "Well, I have 5 sisters!!"
*Loves to steal her sisters' candy and lip gloss (once when she was wearing lip gloss, I touched her lips and said, "Shh!" and she said, "Mommy, you're gonna mess up my make-up!"
*Loves to dance in the rain, "I'm taking a shower in the rain, Mommy!!  hee hee hee!  That tickles!"

Fun things she says:
-"Di-addy"- for Daddy
-"Can't find the mote"- remote control
-"Clissa"- for Calyssa
-"chinga-changa"- for a chimichanga/burrito
-"Look Mommy!  It's my stinky!"- for slinky
-"Bluck" or "Blucky"- with her tongue out, when she doesn't like something, or she says, "I can't eat that.  It doesn't taste really good."
-"Huh"- actually means "yes" like "Uh-huh" but without the "Uh" so people often repeat themselves because they think she is responding "Huh?"
-"I want a shmellow-shmellow"- for marshmellow
-"Pancake juice"= Syrup
-"Poe-poe," "Gween," and "Lellow"- Colors (purple, green, and yellow)
-"Let her giggle, Mommy!" "Let her giggle again!" or "Giggle her, Mommy!"  When asking me to get Calyssa to laugh.

Here are some pictures from her actual birthday, which happened to be 2-3 weeks after my surgery.  Thanks to Grant and her sisters, she was able to have a very special day.

As you can see in the first picture, Little Miss Independent decided to cut her own hair (while at a friend's house, when I was recovering from surgery.)  We took her to a fun salon to have it "fixed."  It turned out really cute and I was just glad that she didn't choose a shorter length.  It really fits her!  :)

Just a few more pictures of her different birthday presents.  Thanks everyone!!  :)  Happy Birthday, beautiful girl!
