Our Christmas Tree Find- 2013

We love real Christmas trees...
...cutting them down as a family...
...building memories...
...the smell...
...the look of them...
...and on and on...

However, each December we are always...
...low on funds...
...low on time...
...either in Spokane for Thanksgiving (which takes out the best tree chopping days)...
...or leaving for Spokane before Christmas (which takes out the purpose of getting a tree)...

We always swear that we will get a fake tree, when this Christmas is over (because then they are on clearance) ...and then we never do... and we are stuck in the same predictament every year.   LOL!!

This year was no different.  We spent Thanksgiving in Spokane.  The following two weeks were jam packed with our busy lives (parties, sports, performances, etc.)  We found ourselves 11 days from Christmas with no tree.  I asked my Facebook friends for ideas for a local tree farm with nice trees for reasonable prices.  They all had great suggestions.  The girls wanted to get one that day.  However, by the time we were able to get to the tree farm, it had just closed.  I knew the following week wouldn't be any less busy.  And I found myself wishing that somehow we would've arrived sooner, or that they would just let us in.  Well, that didn't happen... so we drove on... disappointed.

A few miles down the road, we drove past a little A-frame house.  It didn't look like much, but it was all decked out and we noticed about 6-8 trees out front.  "Why don't we stop there?" someone suggested.  I was a bit reluctant, as I figured it would cost quite a bit more there.  But we went back to ask anyway.
A young lady in her twenties was out front.  We asked her about the trees.  Then the girls piled out of the car... "Oh my goodness!!  They are so adorable!!  ...Which tree would you like girls?"  I surveyed the trees and one caught my eye... well, more like my nose!  One tree was so full and gorgeous and it smelled like HEAVEN!!!  I was in love!!  I figured that it was probably quite a bit more than the others.  However, when I asked she said, "You know my boyfriend normally deals with that but he is not here... you can have it for $25."  That was the exact price we were looking for!!  I was thrilled!!  What a blessing!

It is probably the fanciest Christmas tree we have ever had!  I'm guessing it was a Noble or Fraser fir.

The girls loved decorating our tree (while Grant and I got ready for our annual White Elephant party)... and I loved smelling it!!  Throughout the rest of the month, we had several comments from people that they thought it was a very expensive tree and that it looked and smelled lovely.

What a find!!  :)

I love the smell of fresh Christmas trees! Reminds me of my childhood. That A-frame house looked so cute!
