Ward Halloween Party

We attended our Ward Halloween Party in early October. We brought my two nephews, Stratton and Harrison, with us to the party. We all had a lot of fun. We ate chili from the chili cookoff contest, we had donut eating contests, a popcorn walk, and face painting.

I love the faces Sariah and Aimee are giving the Elders in this picture... LOL!!

My competitiveness and love of donuts won me my heat of the donut eating contest!

Callie had some trouble eating her donut off the string (I think her mouth just wasn't big enough to grab it.) It kept flying around and around her head. Gideon from her nursery was having the same troubles. It was so incredibly cute to watch these two in action!! She finally gave up and grabbed it with her hands and ate it!! I don't blame her!! Ahh! The torture!! LOL!

Grant A painted a butterfly on Aurora's face... she loved it!! :)

I won't mention any names but some of us were really excited about the popcorn walk... especially when HE won (yeah, "he" pretty much narrows it down in our family... LOL!!) He loves popcorn!

Grant A also painted Callie's face. He painted a kitty on her face... and then she smiled for me! Adorable!!

Naomi painted Tia and Nina's faces! So cute!!
I didn't get a picture of Riana because she left early to go babysit for Natalie, but I managed to catch her on the way in. We all had a great night! Thanks to all who planned this great event!! :)

Our homeschool program!!

My style of homeschooling is "public school at home." We began homeschooling on our own, the 1st year. Then we were enrolled in the Washington Virtual Academy (WAVA) for 3 years. Now we are enrolled in ORLA. Our girls are taking several classes at an Elementary School that is no longer used for a typical Elementary School. Instead 450 homeschooling students (K-12) take classes there with certified teachers (you choose which ones and how many) but you do have to be at the school with them until they are 12 (in another room with toys for the younger kids) or sign them out to a friend. Then you fill in the rest at home. For example, my girls take Music, Art, P.E., and Science at the school 2 days a week and then I teach them Math, Language, and History at home, on the other 3 days. The school also pays for an additional $300 a year of curriculum (like the Math, Lang, Hist.) We do have to keep up with a certain number of hours per week. We also have a "home room teacher" that helps us with everything, like deciding what extra things to do at home and making sure we don't miss anything. We are really enjoying this program-- it truly is the best of both worlds! If you have any questions, email me. :)
