First Bedroom Makeover

My friend, Jen, has been shopping with me for several weeks now, helping me gather items to redecorate all of our girls rooms.  Jen sure knows the stores to go to, to get a great deal (it is like a treasure hunt to go to these antique/vintage stores) and what will look good together... and what a blessing she has been!!  I have always wanted to do this and we recently cleaned out the office to provide an extra room for the girls, so they are finally two to each room.  We have also needed dressers for a really long time!!  But in my busy life, it is still so hard to make it a top priority for some reason.  Jen is SO good for me that way too!!  I mentioned to her that I had the money to do it and then next morning she called and said, "Let's go!!"  After many hours, we were finally able to put the first bedroom together.  It made it so worth it... especially to see the girls faces!!

Sariah loves the ocean, mermaids, sea turtles, etc.  And Calyssa loves the Little Mermaid and Nemo.  Since they were going to be roomates, this theme fit perfectly together!  We found the dresser for a steal at a vintage store, at about $150!!  And the cute little matching bookshelf at a completely different vintage store!!  We included a seahorse that my little artist, Sariah, had painted when she was younger.  I ordered a few things online (some pillows/pillowcases and a "Mermaids Welcome" sign), including an amazing turtle dreamlight that sends the constellations onto the ceiling.  I splurged on an amazing turtle canvas for their wall but it was super worth the money!!  Sariah loved it!!  Callie's (and most of the girls) favorite part was a little "fish tank" I found at Walmart for pretty cheap.  I was surprised at how cool it really was!!  Callie couldn't take her eyes off of it!!  I hid most of the items in the garage until the big reveal.  We even included Sariah's favorite map of animals all over the world.

Then Jen and Jason came over and helped Grant and I put it together.  The girls were SO surprised!!  They loved it!!  It was so magical that none of the girls wanted to leave that room.  And it has been much easier for them to keep it clean because they are excited to keep it looking nice.

Thank you so much, Jen!!

Can't wait to finish the next one...  :)
