The day began with a gi-normous FEAST!! When Grant had asked me what I wanted for breakfast, I told him I wanted some fruit and a donut. He jokingly told someone that I wanted a super unhealthy breakfast. To which I replied that if I wanted an unhealthy breakfast, I would've asked for bacon and donuts. Somehow from this, he thought that I wanted bacon too. LOL! :) Well, Grant brought out way more than I was expecting... it was truly a feast! Good thing I had several little people who were willing to join in eating it!! :)
I tried not to eat too much as I knew my friend, Jen, was taking me out for lunch. She took me on a new adventure. I have lived in this area for most of my life and have never been to the Farmer's Market. They had lots of samples of new and different combo fruits. For example, a grape combined with an apple called a grapple. Since I had such an unhealthy breakfast with all the donuts and bacon, I was craving vegetables really bad!! So I decided to get a taco salad from a little Mexican restaurant booth. It was really yummy!! While I was sitting there, I ran into my brother's best friend, Sebastian, and his mom, Christina. She found out it was my birthday and she gave me her brownie!! How sweet!! :) Jen spoiled me and on top of buying lunch, she also gave me a sweet new brush! (It is called a paddle brush and I have let my girls know that if they take it out of my bathroom, they will find out why it is called that. I haven't had any problems finding a brush, ever since my birthday... LOL!!)
While I was eating and Jen was getting her food, I received a text from Riana that her schedule had been changed without her permission and that she wanted me to pick her up right away because she was about to cry. I tried to call the school over and over and only was able to get answering machines. Frustrated, we left early to talk to the counselors in person. I explained her situation and later they brought her in and complained to her about how I had handled everything. They told her not to talk to her parents in the future, but just to come to the counselors. As if she would go to them when they wouldn't listen to her even when she asked that they not change her schedule and then when they said, "Is it really the end of the world to have your schedule changed?" Well, I wanted to go straight to the principal, however Grant thought we should talk to the counselors first. He later called them and had a good talk. They called Riana in, apologized to her, and changed her schedule back. Even though it was a bummer that it happened on my birthday, I was glad that it all ended well.
It was a fun trip to the Farmer's Market and I was able to get a feel for what it was like, even though our trip was cut short. Thanks for spoiling me, Jen!! :)
Later, my family spoiled me with gifts-- some were homemade and others cost money... but they all were given with love. I loved every single present!!
The one thing that I asked for was for the van to be completed cleaned out, washed, vacuumed, etc. Grant cleaned everything out and took it to a place to be detailed. It looked AMAZING... better than it has looked in years. It definitely motivated the girls to keep it clean, which has been nice!
After we ate dinner as a family, Riana and Sariah babysat the girls for us so that Grant and I could go out on a date with some of our friends. We were thinking of just driving altogether in our van, however our seats still weren't dry from the cleaning... I was super bummed! Luckily, it all worked out. We tried out a cute little old fashioned ice cream shop, which was so cute!! It is owned by an LDS family. It was fun to know/recognize several of the workers. My ice cream was HUGE (especially for the price.) Right when I was given my ice cream, our friend, Grant, led everyone in the entire store (and videotaped) in singing "Happy Birthday" to me. It was really sweet! It was the perfect ending to a wonderful birthday!!
My birthday surprises continued for a few days. My friend, Nancy, who are serve in the RS presidency with, gave me a giant candy bar. What a sweet surprise!
Then my friend, Vanessa, took Jen and I (who have birthdays 5 days apart) out to lunch at Panera (one of my favorite restaurants... I have never had anything I didn't like there.) Our friend, Michelle, joined us. It was so fun that we talked about how we should do that more often. It was fun hanging out with some of my favorite ladies!! :)
