...but still as adorably cute as ever!! And I am madly in love with him!! :)
(I thought Riana did such a great job taking this picture for us!)
A few weeks ago, our Stake President called Grant and I to meet with him. We never could've guessed what it was for. He extended the calling for Grant to become a High Councilor, which also meant Grant would become a High Priest. (It is a big responsibility and a great honor, which was a bit overwhelming, but we both said yes.) The cutest part to me was when President C. said to Grant that this call was from God and that he wasn't extending this calling, "just because we are such good friends." I thought that was so adorable!! He is such a sweet man!
Grant's Dad, Gene, was able to come during Stake Conference weekend to ordain Grant. Grant had a bit of an identity crisis thinking about leaving Elders Quorum. He has always enjoyed going to Elders Quorum and was feeling kind of sad to leave. Plus it is the Quorum where most of his friends are. And we have always thought of High Priests as "old" and High Councilors as "boring." Ultimately, Grant knew that taking this step was good for him and would help him to progress in the Gospel and grow into a better person. The ordination went well. Following his ordination, Pres. C. set him apart as a High Councilor. Standing in the circles were-- Grant's Dad, my Dad, Pres. C, Pres. M, Pres. W, Bishop H., and Brother Jim M. (who is also a High Councilor.) Grant's parents, my parents and brothers (Joe and Chris), plus niece Kaatlin, and all our girls were there. It was a special time.
I had the opportunity to sing in the Young Women's choir (for leaders too, although another leader thought I was one of the girls- LOL!) during both sessions of Stake Conference. It was really nice to be able to go to both sessions. Our parents took our girls back to my parents' house after the first session because I had to sing and Grant had some interviews/meetings for his calling. So Grant and I were able to enjoy the second session together. It was really nice, especially since I missed the adult session. We sat by my sister, Celestia, her husband, and two boys. Most of the talks were pretty similar, except one. The Seattle Temple President completely changed his talk. I noticed right away, as he started his talk with a story about a horse. I couldn't help but think how inspired his words were and felt they were meant for one person. I talked to him afterwards and thanked him for changing his talk. He started to cry and said that he was planning on giving the same talk but felt inspired to change it at the last minute. It was really a sweet, tender conversation. What a loving, inspired servant of the Lord!
It was definitely a spiritually fulfilling day! We were so thankful that Grant's parents made the sacrifices to come over just for him.

The horse story was Savannah's favorite talk. Glad she went to both as well, kinda wish I had.
Jason will sure miss Grant by his side all the time.
