May 2010

1) Tia decided to put Aurora's hair and her own hair in curlers.  It was quite cute.  Unforunately, it wasn't wet or hot, so it didn't take, but they had fun and looked cute in the curlers!
2) We decided to get a new barbeque.  Grant was really excited to invite someone over right away.  However, I am a bit overwhelmed by inviting someone over when my house doesn't look just perfect.  (The house was clean but there was still things unorganized.  I like everything to be perfect before we have people over, which is probably why we rarely have people over.  LOL!)  We compromised and invited two different families that I would feel comfortable having over, even with my house the way it was.  We had my brother, Chris's, family over, one night.  Then my friend, Rachel's, family over the next.  The rotisserie chicken from the barbeque tasted wonderful!  And Grant had a blast!  What a cutie!
3) Karina looked like an angel sleeping in her white dress! She loves to suck her thumb and play with her ear, at the same time. I've never had a thumb sucker so it is kind of cute but hopefully she outgrows it soon, before she loses any teeth and permanent ones start growing in.
Mother's Day- I had a wonderful Mother's Day and received some really fun gifts/cards.  We also had some really yummy banana splits!!  But my favorite part was just seeing my girls, who were so excited for me to open/read the things they worked so hard on.  It was really sweet!

Aurora turned 2 in May!  She is getting to be such a big girl.  Here are some pictures from her actual birthday, of her breakfast and lunch.  I already posted all about her year, in a previous post.
In May, Riana and Sariah had their little end of the year awards ceremony for Activity Days (a program at our church for girls 8-11).  The leaders and the girls talked about the different activities they had done, goals they had accomplished, and service projects they had completed, throughout the year.  Then our Bishop spoke to the girls, as well.  (His wife happens to be one of their leaders and they had two daughters in the program, as well.)  He told a story about saving starfish and the girls sang a song:  "I am like a star shining brightly, smiling for the whole world to see.  I can do and say, happy things each day, for I know Heavenly Father loves me."  Next, they received certificates for the year and starburst candies (keeping with the star theme of the night.)  To end the night, we had some yummy refreshments.  We are sure thankful they have great leaders to plan fun/memorable nights, such as this.
Our girls begged and begged to wash the outside of the van.  I said, "Alright, but you have to clean out the inside of the van first."  They were totally okay with that.  It was definitely a win-win situation!  I had a clean van, inside and out.  And they had a ton of fun washing the van!  Their friend, Devyn, who lives down the street, even got in on the fun!  (Poor Aurora was stuck inside for most of it, since she usually just runs into the street.)  Although, I think I got the better end of that deal.  :)
1-3) In our family, when you memorize all 13 Articles of Faith, which tell some of the basics of our religion, you get to choose a special CTR (Choose the Right) ring, for under $25. Riana finished memorizing all of them! She was so excited to get her ring in the mail. She chose a Noah's Ark ring. It is a really neat one!

4) Tierra lost her first tooth!! She was really excited to finally lose a tooth, at age 6! And she looked pretty stinkin' cute too!

On our actual anniversary, Grant was performing in a few Opera scenes and we ended up going to a late dinner at Red Robin afterwards (I was so sick because I waited too long to eat real food!  But we had a great server, who was so impressed by our 12 years of marriage and baby 6 on the way, when we look so young.  He kept asking for advice.  It was really kind.)  So to really celebrate our anniversary, Grant and I went to a restaurant that I have been wanting to take him to for a long time.  Last year, we wanted to go, but the kids got sick at the last minute and we didn't end up going.  (I haven't been to that restaurant since my junior Tolo, when my boyfriend took me there.)  Even though I could hardly eat because my morning sickness was pretty bad that night, we had so much fun!  It was just nice sitting there together.  I love spending time with him and feel very blessed to be married to my best friend.  They brought us a little cake to congratulate us on our anniversary.  It was sweet!  ;)
1) Tierra made a colorful fruit loop necklace and was excited to show it off!  :)
2) Even though this picture is quite blury, I really love it.  It is just a really sweet picture of Aurora snuggling with Karina.  I am glad my girls are so close.
3) I took Riana, Sariah, and Tierra to see a play, "Charlotte's Web."  I have fond memories of going to see these plays when I was younger, with my school.  We sat with a few friends from our school and that was fun too.  Afterwards, we visited a few really fun stores downtown.
A Few of our Favorite Things for Memorial Day
We spent Memorial Day over at my parent's house, where we had the best company (Grandparents, Uncles, Aunts, and Cousins!), and fun things to do, like jumping on the trampoline!  We ate a lot of my favorite/comfort foods:  Grant's guacamole, chips and salsa, vegetables, olives on our fingers (so fun!), barbeque chicken, hamburgers, and hot dogs (barbequed by my cute honey), my Mom's potato salad (my absolute favorite!!), watermelon, my Mom's Mom's family-famous frozen drink (so yummy!), strawberry/blueberry shortcake (shaped just for the holiday!), and my Mom's homemade bread (melt-in-your-mouth delicious!!)  I was in heaven and ate way too much!!  :)
