Basketball- May/June 2010

The sports I loved the most in my youth were waterskiing, soccer, and basketball.  Well, I can only expose my kids so much to the first, when I don't have a boat.  (And I do try to, when I can.)  I would say we are doing a pretty sufficient job of exposing them to the second.  And I have always wanted to expose them to the third, at the right time.  I finally had the opportunity to do that this last spring.

Only a few problems... 1) I was extremely exhausted and feeling sick, as I was in my first trimester.  Thank goodness we have good friends, who we were able to carpool with.  That helped a lot!  2) This basketball camp was a bit more hard core than the girls or I were expecting, for this level.  3) My sickest day, happened to be the last.  I really wanted to go watch and barely made it through the practice.  But on the way home, I missed a speed limit change sign and ended up with a ticket.  :(  I was sad and mad!  I haven't received a ticket since I was 17 (15 years ago!)  Luckily, Washington state has a ticket forgiveness program, where they will defer 1 ticket every 7 years (with a few exceptions like school zones), as long as you don't get another for the next year.  I was so thankful for that!

But all in all, they had fun with lots of friends.  The coaches, though they pushed hard, were awesome!  They had a very contagious passion for the game.  The girls learned a lot, in a short amount of time (about 6 weeks- about 9 practices).  I think it was good for them.  I just hope they will continue to have a desire to play in the future.  (Their Daddy even bought them cute new shoes for their new sport.  1st picture in their old shoes and 2nd picture in their new ones.)

Hard core for sure and fabulous knowledgable coaches. Made me tired just watching.
