Road Trip- Day 5- UT/CO

We had a wonderful breakfast!  My favorite parts were the yummy casserole with eggs, sausage, etc. and the fresh fruit and yogurt.  It was again hard to say goodbye, especially after such a short visit.  Callie said goodbye to her little buddy, Mi-shoo.  We had a wonderful time with our friends and appreciated everything they did for us!  :)

Our drive that day was one of extremes!  First, we drove by some turnpikes.  Sariah loved to watch them turn!  Next, we drove through some extremely ugly countryside.  Seriously, everything looked dead.  I felt bad for the town.  Then we drove by some "mint" mountains.  They were the coolest color of green.  It reminded me of mint ice cream.  The next part of our drive reminded us of the movie, "Cars."  It looked a lot like the roads that Lightning McQueen drove on.  That was fun!  Then we drove through Moab.  Sadly, we didn't have time to really see much, but everything was extremely beautiful that we did see!  Around the time that we crossed over into Colorado, it started snowing really hard!!  Jeremy had told us that morning that we would be driving into one of the most extreme parts of weather in the whole country for this day.  And I believe it is pretty rare for this time of year.  It was snowing so hard and the wind was pretty nasty, but thankfully not a whole lot was sticking.  But it was still pretty scary... although Grant is a super awesome snow driver, which is great!  When we decided we were sick of driving in these conditions, we ended up stopping in Cortez, CO.  A lot of the hotels were full, I think other people ended up stopping due to the storm also.  We finally found a hotel!  The girls were amazed by the dirty snow all over our car.  They also loved the heart shaped hot tub.  And they finally got to go swimming for real!!  They couldn't get enough!  I think the only thing that stopped them was their hunger!  Grant picked up some pizzas!  It was a fun night!
