"A Night in Paris" -Riana's Party 2012

We had Riana's 12th birthday party in April.  Riana decided on "A Night in Paris," as the theme for her party, with black/white and pink as the colors.  I made the cake and our girls made the cupcakes (topped with yummy raspberry M&Ms.)  The decorations were a bit hard to find, however I was able to get some things at PartyCity and JoAnns.  Grant found a "Paris" sign at BigLots and picked up an amazing Eiffel Tower centerpiece at PierOne Imports!

When all the girls first arrived at the party, they made charm bracelets.  The charms told a bit of a story-- you leave Seattle (Space Needle), and fly around the world (the airplane and globe), to see Paris (Eiffel Tower), where your heart is (heart.)  I kinda made it up as I went along.  I found all the pieces at Shipwrecks (the charms, the chain, some extra links, and the clasps) and was so glad that it all worked out.  I spent a little more than I wanted to but I thought they turned out pretty cute.  After the girls were done making their bracelets, they played games for a while waiting for everyone to finish.

When the party guests arrived, I was totally behind and really stressed out!!  Well, my lifesaver came in the form of my friend, Jen, who came to drop off her daughter and then just jumped right in and started helping me (helping the girls make their bracelets, taking tons of awesome pictures, helping make the dinner, etc.)  She also sent Aurora home with her husband to play with her daughter, Brynn, for an hour.  She helped SO much!!  And I was able to get everything done that I wanted to get done in that first hour.  I was incredibly thankful to her!!  I sure lucked out in the friend department with her!!  I sure love and appreciate you, Jen!!  :)

Riana was blessed to have many wonderful guests attend her party...
...her friends- Aimee A, Alyssa D, Amanda P, Autumn H, and Gracie M
...her cousins- Paige, Kaiti, and Kaatlin (who arrived late)
...her sisters- Sariah, Tierra, Karina, Aurora, and Calyssa
It was a great group of girls!!  Riana is sure blessed with good friends!
Things got a little crazy at times!!!  LOL!!
For dinner, Riana chose--
Spaghetti and Meatballs with French Bread
Salad with French Dressing

While eating their dinner, the guests watched "The History of the Eiffel Tower," on NetFlix.  I was actually shocked at how interested they were in it.

Next everyone sang to Riana and she blew out the candles in one breath!!  Go Riana!!

To eat with the cake/cupcakes, Riana chose--
2 different kinds of French Vanilla Ice Cream

The gifts were very thoughtful, as they really matched Riana.  She absolutely loved every present she received!!  Here are pictures of a few of them...

After presents, the girls watched a Selena Gomez movie called, "Monte Carlo," where they go to Paris.  Then they played some flashlight games outside.  (Riana really wanted a sleepover but it didn't work out.  Her second choice was a really long party so that is what we did.  It lasted from 4-10pm.)  I think all the girls had a lot of fun!!  I know Riana did... party successful!!  :)

The last picture is Riana and Karina in their Paris shirts.  I think Tierra has one too.  Fun, fun!

1) We found some cute Eiffel Tower/Paris party invitations and thank you cards (which she still hasn't filled out... stinker!!  LOL!) at Marshalls or Ross.
2) The Eiffel Tower all lit up- pretty!  :)
3) Riana and I both made mistakes about her party.  When Riana gave out the invitations in her church class, two girls weren't there.  Riana put those invitations back in her scriptures and then she forgot to give them to them later.  Major bummer!!  My mistake was that I didn't put our phone number on the RSVP because I thought email would be easier.  Well, one of Riana's friends from ORLA, Emily H, got lost!  Her Mom drove around for about an hour trying to find our house!  Apparently, Emily was in tears!!  I felt so bad when I found out!!  Emily still wanted to give Riana a gift and Riana made Emily a charm bracelet.  That made it a little better.  Hopefully next time will work out.
