Playing Catch-up-- Spring Soccer

Since this blog is the only journal I keep, I like to go back and play catch-up, when I get behind on blogging.  However, it has been an insanely busy summer (thus no blogging) and it may take me a bit to document.  So... hopefully, you all don't get bored in the meantime.  :)  I'll start with Spring Soccer- April/May 2010.
Karina had her very 1st season of soccer, on the SuperStars!!  She had a nice coach, Jason (who was so sweet to get them medals at the end of the season), who had a daughter on the team, and another daughter as the assistant coach.  Karina had a great time out there and kept up quite well!  She had no problem with being physically aggressive and even scored a couple of goals!  But I'm pretty sure her favorite part was having her best friend in the whole world on the team, who also happens to be her cousin, Lolo!!  When those two get together, they are crazy!!!  And pretty stinkin' cute too!  I love their relationship so much... they are about as close as you can get, without being sisters!  And I'm so thankful that they live nearby so they can do things like this together.
Tierra played her 3rd season of soccer, this year, on the Cheetahs.  In her first 2 seasons, she basically ran around the field with the biggest smile you've ever seen and never really touched the ball.  This generous little girl would share the ball with anyone and everyone who wanted it.  And I have to say, even though I saw a few glimpses of that smiley little girl out there (middle picture), Tierra improved SO much!  She really went after the ball and became competitive out there!  I was so happy to see her toughening up a bit!  ;)  She was lucky enough to have her friend Cannon's Dad, Jason, as the coach.  Jason coaches two teams and so he asked me to be the assistant coach.  Even though I've seen Jason coach before, I came to a new found respect for his coaching abilities.  It was quite amazing the way he worked with these little tiny kids and taught them the game of soccer, on their level (which is not easy with kids this little!)  For example, teaching them to keep the ball close like it was their ice cream cone or something, and they didn't want someone to take their ice cream from them.  They totally loved it!  It was really fun to be able to coach a few practices/games for Tia (but not be totally in charge) and get to know the wonderful kids that were on her team.  It was a great team!  (Tia also had her cousin, Seth, on her team, for probably the last time, which was really fun!)  We were also quite blessed to have another family friend on the team, whose Dad, Dave Wolf, is a photographer.  He did an awesome job on the team pictures for an incredible deal!!  (The top 6 pictures of Tia came from him and the picture below of Seth.)  At the end of the season party, Jason handed out really awesome certificates to the kids and talked about special things about each child.  Also, Jason and Jennifer gave me donuts as a thank you!  It meant a lot to me because it was just neat that they know me so well!  :)  We brought food to eat and played a soccer game of kids vs parents.  It was a fun night and a fun season!  (I also threw in an adorable picture of Aurora with her cousin Benny.  They were having a blast eating ice cream together!)
We even had the chance to see a few games of our neices and nephews, who are all siblings.  We, of course, got to watch Seth and Laurel's games because they were on Tia and Nina's teams.  Nathanael had a game after Riana and Sariah one week and we stayed and watched.  And although I don't have any pictures of Kaatlin playing, we try to make it to a game of hers every once in a while too.  I'm pretty sure we went to one in the Summer and maybe one in the Spring as well.  She plays with a lot of other girls we know too, (and Jason is her coach also,) which makes it extra fun to watch!  :)
Riana and Sariah had another great season of soccer, a sport they both thoroughly enjoy!  They had a lot of fun with the girls on their team, and having their Daddy as their coach.  Unforunately, due to some (unanticipated and undeserved) drama (caused by Grant's assistant coach and a few of her friends), it was sadly the last season they were able to play with some of these girls.  (It was very frustrating to say the least.  Grant was volunteering his time and was treated unfairly.)  Anyway, Riana had a great season and even scored a goal off of a corner kick (without anyone else touching it!)  It was incredible, especially at this level of play.  Because of this, she was awarded, "Queen of the Corner."  Sariah fought a tough fight, even plowing down girls twice her size, and thus was awarded "Fearless Crusher" (I can't remember if that was the exact wording of the title.)  They also played off of each other really well, something that I'm sure will only get better and better.
With Grant coaching, me (Angela) assistant coaching, 4 girls in Spring Soccer, and a toddler in tow, it was a very busy season... but a really fun one too!  We sure love soccer!!  :)

This was fun to read. How neat that they can be on teams with their cousins and sisters too. Sounds like you guys had a great season!
