For Karina's birthday party, we decided that instead of getting goody bags for all the kids, we would purchase Gingerbread Houses for each family to decorate. My parents pitched in for a couple and we payed for the others and bought some extra candy. It turned out to be so much fun. (We have done this once in the past, but it was because my Mom made houses for each family-- a ton of work!!) This year, she is just going to make one for Tommy and Joe (my two youngest brothers) to decorate because they can't eat the ingredients in the prepackaged ones. She has always made one for us to decorate since we were little. It always made for great memories, and this time was no different. We had so much fun and it was especially neat to see how different everyone's house turned out, when they all started exactly the same way. Fun times!!
