Riana was really excited to turn 8! Not only was she excited to get baptized, she was also excited to start Activity Day girls. Her first day, they did hair care and fixed her hair very cute. She told me that all her friends thought she looked like Princess Leia from Star Wars.
Her baptism was a really special day for all of us. She had the privilege of being baptized with two of her best buddies Trieste and Bailey (they all turned 8 within a week). Also, Riana was baptized in the same font that I was baptized in 20+ years ago (am I that old?). I was also extremely happy that my girls had the opportunity to sing at her baptism. (My sisters and I sang at all of our baptisms and it is a very special memory.) Trieste and her sisters and Bailey and her siblings also sang with them (only some of them are pictured above). They sang "A Child's Prayer" with Trieste, Riana, and Bailey singing the second verse and the other 8 kids singing the first. They brought such a sweet spirit. It was neat. Riana was baptized first and I started crying, the minute she started to step into the baptismal font. I was overcome with the spirit and also just with emotion. It was one of the most blessed moments of being a wife and mother, to watch my husband baptize our little girl. I can't believe she is old enough, since it seems like just yesterday that she was born. We were so happy that she made the choice to be baptized. We also gave her, her very own set of scriptures and a special journal. My Mom made her dress. We went to the fabric store and Riana picked out the pattern and the material. Grandma did an amazing job, as always!
We were very blessed to have so much family come to her baptism: my parents, my brothers Joe, Tommy, Danny and his girlfriend Jolie, and Chris and his wife Mandy plus their 5 children, my sisters Celestia and her sons, and Elizabeth and her husband Mark and their children. From Grant's family, his parents, his sister Jill and husband Tito and their girls, and his brother Phillip and his wife Michelle and their boys. We also enjoyed seeing many friends from church at the baptism, as well. Afterwards, we had a luncheon at our house with all of our family. It was nice but pretty stressful on me. But all in all, it was a special day that I will never forget!! :)
