I decided to use the number 1 as the main theme for her party, since she was born on 1-11-11 and she was turning 1. When I went to the store, I saw some super cute Minnie Mouse decorations, with a number 1, so I used those. (Some of them even had Jan11 on the back. The girls thought that was so cool!) I especially loved the cute little candle. I also made some signs (which the girls helped me color)-- "Born 1-11-11," "Happy 1st Birthday Calyssa," and "1 Singular Sensation, every little step she takes." Riana made a very cute cake with Calyssa's name on it. I also made a cake- the traditional chocolate cake and chocolate frosting so it would make a bigger mess. LOL! I was so thankful the store had Valentine's Day M&Ms so that I could make it how I envisioned it with pink and white polka dots. Even the presents matched-- I think everyones' presents had polka dots on them!! :) It also decided to snow a bit, which was fun, especially since it also snowed the day she was born!
Calyssa loved all the attention everyone gave her as we sang "Happy Birthday" to her. So much so, that I had a hard time getting her to look at the camera. She just kept looking around at everyone and everything that was going on around her. (Party guests included- my Mom and Dad, brother Joe, brother Chris and family, sister Celestia and family, Grant's sister Jill and family, and our friends Brooke, Aimee, and Hailey.) Calyssa wasn't so sure about digging in to her cake at first, however once we put her in her high chair, she had a blast!! She especially loved the M&Ms! (I love the picture with her little profile shadow.) She got so messy that even her feet had cake on them!
Calyssa opened lots of wonderful presents- some really cute little dollies, some fun bathtub toys, some snacks, money, a soccer ball pacifier, etc. She also had fun playing with her adorable cousin, Ruthie! Aurora also loved seeing all the extended family especially Uncle Chu (Tito)! It was a one-derful party and we were so thankful for everyone for making it great!
