Day 3- Trek- July 2014

The next morning, we had Captains Joe Graham and Merrill George eat with us.  They are a lot of fun to talk to and just are so down to earth.  We had some super yummy breakfast burritos!  We also enjoyed the sounds of Barbara Johnston playing her violin.  She is an amazing violinist!  It definitely added to the authentic pioneer experience!  I loved it!

The afternoon was filled with games and activities.  I’m pretty sure everyone’s favorite activity was the hair washing station.  Our family got to go first!  It was a wonderful, refreshing surprise!  Afterwards, there was a lot of hairbraiding going on.  I even braided my son, Eli’s hair.  LOL!  There was also a station to shoot black power rifles.  I hit it right in the center of the target!  J  I was also pretty amazing at shooting/spitting cherry seeds with my tongue, well, once Eli showed me how anyway.  After that, I hit the far bucket every time!  I think I had the record!  We made whistles out of straws, washed clothes, threw fake cow”pies”, and many more fun games.  One game was stilt walking… our family laughed our heads off when Eli accidently broke one of the pairs of stilts though.  Eli felt so bad but it totally wasn’t even his fault.  One game, I think it was called ladders or something, with a string with balls on each end.  Grant and a girl, Meilani, who used to be on his soccer team, were super good and battled against each other.  Honestly, I can’t even remember who won.  And speaking of winning, one game that our family was awesome at, well, everyone except me!  I was terrible!!  Was the tomahawk throwing contest.  A lot of our family was hitting the bullseye.  I couldn’t even get one to stick… LOL!  We all kept going back again and again and again… and we won the watermelons!!!  WAHOO!!  It was so awesome!  And totally lifted their spirits to win.  At one point when we were sitting around, the boys were singing, “If you like it than you should’ve put a ring on it…”  We were laughing so hard!  It was hilarious!
