March 2012

The random happenings of March 2012, at our house...

1) This is what happens at Family Council, when you are married to a silly guy like Grant. He literally called a family council so that he could play a prank on me. So silly! The girls thought it was pretty hilarious. As for me, I only had one problem... he didn't take any pictures during my shocking surprise! If you are going to "pie" me, at least take pictures... LOL!! So we took this one afterwards.
2-3) My Mom, Tia, and I went shopping for the materials for Tia's baptism dress. Tia was so excited to spend that special time with her Mommy and Grandma. She loved every minute! In fact, I think we all enjoyed it!
4) Callie loves her Grandma too!! :)

5) Some of my favorite ladies- Rachel, myself, Vanessa (and Sophie dog), and Jen... on Vanessa's birthday
6) Calyssa, Aurora, and I watching one of the many rainy Spring Soccer practices, from the car. Luckily, though most of the practices were very rainy, most of the games weren't. Sometimes it is the other way around or both are rainy.
7-11) Celebrating Saint Patrick's Day- waking up to green scrambled eggs and green waffles with strawberries and whipped cream and a leprechaun trap full of gold... then finishing it off with corn beef and cabbage, potatoes, and green apple drink.

12-14) We had Camp Zarahemla at Debbie and Marsh's house this year, instead of up at the cabins. We ate yummy food and played some games-- "Murderer" and "Oogie-Oogie-Boogie". It was a lot of fun. This picture of Logan makes me laugh! He is so funny!

15-16) For Young Womens, we babysat for service. I'm not sure who had more fun, the kids or the young women... LOL!! ;)
17) Rori is always posing for pictures, with little poses that she makes up herself!! She is such a cutie!! :)

3 Nephi 17:21-24

"21 And when (Jesus) had said these words, he wept, and the multitude bare record of it, and he took their little children, one by one, and blessed them, and prayed unto the Father for them.

22 And when he had done this he wept again;

23 And he spake unto the multitude, and said unto them: Behold your little ones.

Our homeschool program!!

My style of homeschooling is "public school at home." We began homeschooling on our own, the 1st year. Then we were enrolled in the Washington Virtual Academy (WAVA) for 3 years. Now we are enrolled in ORLA. Our girls are taking several classes at an Elementary School that is no longer used for a typical Elementary School. Instead 450 homeschooling students (K-12) take classes there with certified teachers (you choose which ones and how many) but you do have to be at the school with them until they are 12 (in another room with toys for the younger kids) or sign them out to a friend. Then you fill in the rest at home. For example, my girls take Music, Art, P.E., and Science at the school 2 days a week and then I teach them Math, Language, and History at home, on the other 3 days. The school also pays for an additional $300 a year of curriculum (like the Math, Lang, Hist.) We do have to keep up with a certain number of hours per week. We also have a "home room teacher" that helps us with everything, like deciding what extra things to do at home and making sure we don't miss anything. We are really enjoying this program-- it truly is the best of both worlds! If you have any questions, email me. :)
