About 3-4 years ago, thanks to the internet, I got back in touch with a good friend of mine from my childhood soccer team (which her Dad coached- I wish I had digital copies of those pictures) and then in high school, Megan. (Megan was one of the sweetest, tender, loving people I have ever known. She wasn't LDS but most of her close friends were and she came to dances and activities with us, all the time. And she was just an all around good person.) She had 2 little girls, who were about 2 and 3 and I had 4 little girls, who were 7 and under. She mentioned several times that we should get together, since she only lived 2 hours away and visited her family here often. I agreed... but life was busy and it never happened. I never knew that that chance would soon be gone. Megan passed away suddenly about 2 years ago. I was so sad and it made it even worse that I had let a busy life keep me from seeing her and getting our little girls together to play.
Fast forward to present:
Riana and Sariah had been begging me for months to let them take a gymnastics class. In the beginning of February, I finally called. However, the classes were all full. They were pretty bummed. But then at the last minute, they let us know that they were creating a new class just for the 4 girls who were on the waiting list.
The first day I brought Riana and Sariah to class, I recognized the names of the 2 little girls on the list and when I saw them, I knew they were Megan's girls. So for the 4 weeks of class, my girls were able to play with Megan's girls. It made me emotional to watch as Riana and Sariah helped Skyeanne and Cailin (since they are a bit younger) and became their buddies. It was just really special for me. I also had the chance to talk to Megan's Mom, Martha, (who is now raising Megan's girls) for quite some time. It was really nice.
I feel so blessed that we were able to have this opportunity and I truly feel that it was the Lord that made it happen.
Here are a few other pictures of my girls enjoying their gymnastics class, including one of Riana climbing to the top of the rope (she has been unknowingly practicing on our street lamp-post, for the last 3 years) . She's quite a little monkey!! :) Sariah made it up halfway, which was also quite amazing! Their instructor, Sarah, was great! She was even quite pregnant and still did a wonderful job!

I'm so glad you shared this. Such a tender mercy to you to see her girls and mother again. We all too often let our busy lives keep us from important things. Such a good reminder to us all.
Such a special story Angela. Thanks for sharing it. I'm sorry for the loss of your friend. I'm glad your girls can now be friends, that's really neat.
Oh my Angela...I am so jealous that you got to sped time with Meg's girls and her Mom! I miss her so much, and think of her girls all the time wondering how they are doing. Would you mind emailing me and telling me about how they are doing? I think you have my email address! Thanks so much for this post!!
Amazing story!
Life is very intersting to say the least.... I asked myself that often? Why did I let life keep me from being too busy to just slow down and do those things that I knew were more important and a better use of my time, instead I just did the typical things that just left all the more to finish the next day. Unfortunately we can't do the what if's, or if only's... cuz it will haunt us. What we do have is Now, and I am sure your girls and your sweet friend's girls will some great memories playing together now. It's what your friend would like, so do it for her.=)
