On Labor Day, Sep. 4, 2006, we hiked up Green Lake in Mt. Rainier National Park. We had a lot of fun. My family, my brother Chris and family, my Mom, brother Tommy, and my cousin's son Tristan, all went. It was a tougher hike than we had bargained for, however, the kids were all troopers. People passing by us kept commenting on all the kids and how amazing they were doing. There was a pretty waterfall about halfway up, that we stopped and had lunch at. At the top, Chris and Tommy ended up swimming in the glacier water, but not for long, as they realized just how cold it really was. Everyone else just waded in to their knees. Also the birds were trying to steal food away from the babies--Laurel and Karina, so Tommy ended up getting some to perch on his hand and eat. It was amazing! The hike ended up being about 4 miles total and about 1000 feet elevation gain. What were we thinking?? Just kidding. It was ranked as an easy hike, in our hiking book, but it was tough with all the kids. My nephew Seth was my little buddy, most of the trip, by his choice--what a cutie! Also Chris carried sleeping Tia the last mile of the hike. How amazing! Anyway, hopefully everyone is glad that they went. :)
