Our Crazy Summer

We have had a fun summer! But it has been crazy and busy! Riana and Sariah tried out Soccer and Swimming Lessons. They loved it and will definitely do it again next summer. Also we sold one house, moved into another one, and only had to pay double house payments for one month. (Ahhh!) I learned that despite trials in life, I have a lot to be thankful for. I started keeping a gratitude journal, which helped me see all those many blessings. I stopped complaining about my house situation and started thanking my Heavenly Father for even having a house. It has really helped me see the cup half full instead of half empty. On a sad note, with our move, we tried to help our cats adjust, and thought they had adjusted after a week of being fine, however, we ended up losing both of our cats. :( They were such sweet cats for the three years we had them and we will all miss them. On a happier note, we were also able to go on a few family vacations, including Grant's little brother Aaron's graduation, a work conference for Grant at Semiahmoo- Blaine,WA, neice Rachel's blessing, the Monson Family Reunion, and Grant spent a week in Chicago for Product Launch. We also had some fun times around town like the Drive-In as a family to see "Cars", Chuck E' Cheese for neice Kaiti's birthday, went to Build-A-Bear for Sariah's birthday, had Tim and Wendy and family come to visit, went to Real Madrid vs DC United Soccer Game while the girls had a sleepover at Grandma and Grandpa's house, just to mention a few highlights. We have had quite a crazy and fun summer!

3 Nephi 17:21-24

"21 And when (Jesus) had said these words, he wept, and the multitude bare record of it, and he took their little children, one by one, and blessed them, and prayed unto the Father for them.

Our homeschool program!!

My style of homeschooling is "public school at home." We began homeschooling on our own, the 1st year. Then we were enrolled in the Washington Virtual Academy (WAVA) for 3 years. Now we are enrolled in ORLA. Our girls are taking several classes at an Elementary School that is no longer used for a typical Elementary School. Instead 450 homeschooling students (K-12) take classes there with certified teachers (you choose which ones and how many) but you do have to be at the school with them until they are 12 (in another room with toys for the younger kids) or sign them out to a friend. Then you fill in the rest at home. For example, my girls take Music, Art, P.E., and Science at the school 2 days a week and then I teach them Math, Language, and History at home, on the other 3 days. The school also pays for an additional $300 a year of curriculum (like the Math, Lang, Hist.) We do have to keep up with a certain number of hours per week. We also have a "home room teacher" that helps us with everything, like deciding what extra things to do at home and making sure we don't miss anything. We are really enjoying this program-- it truly is the best of both worlds! If you have any questions, email me. :)
